*A mandatory 3-day in-person training at the University of Memphis is required to ensure learners develop the necessary hands-on clinical skills of a medical assistant.

  • Proof of GED or high school diploma
  • Respond to a series of interview questions
  • Pay $50 application fee

Medical Assisting Program FAQ

What is the current salary for a medical assistant?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average annual wage for Medical Assistants is $40,700.

What skills will I learn in the program? 

As a student in this program, you will learn the administrative and clinical skills necessary to work as a medical assistant. Administrative duties covered include patient scheduling, billing and coding and maintaining medical records. Clinical tasks included are taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, administering medication and more.  

How much does the medical assisting program cost?

The total cost for tuition, books and instruction is $4500. We offer a payment plan—$1500 deposit is required with $1000 due at the beginning of each subsequent block of courses.

What certification will I receive from this program? 

Upon successful completion of this program, you will be eligible to sit for the National HealthCareer Association’s Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) exam. 

Where can I work as a medical assistant? 

Most medical assistants work in physician offices, hospitals, surgery centers or long-term care centers.

Can I use financial aid for this program? 

This program is not eligible for financial aid. However, we do offer a payment plan.

Can I transfer the credits to my university?

Courses are not transferable. However, you can obtain Experiential Learning Credit to use toward a degree.
